My personal AI policy

In short

I use AI in my daily work and I'm happy with others doing so too. The only thing I ask: whatever you send is something you understand and stand behind. And when you write to me, I'd love it to actually be you writing.

About my own use of AI

  • I use AI tools daily for coding, drafts, research, and refactoring. It is a great amplifier while I still do the critical thinking.
  • Everything I publish or send, I have read, checked, and can explain in my own words. If I can't explain it, I don't ship it.
  • I just like using emoji in my messages, that's not the LLM okay? ;)

What I ask of you

Please own what you send. Whatever tool helped you to produce it, the output carries your name. A computer can not be held accountable.

Read before you forward. If a message to me is just a question passed to an AI and the answer passed back unread, it doesn't tell me what you think and that's usually the thing I am most interested in. Otherwise I would have prompted the AI myself.

Send me your take, not a wall of text. Reading costs time, and I'd rather spend it on your judgment than on six paragraphs of fluff that could have been two sentences. Your conclusion, your risks, your question, that's the good stuff. To indicate that I value personal attention in communication, I will stop reading once I feel that I am more interacting with an LLM than with a human.

Concretely:

  • ✅ Use AI to code and write better. I do too.
  • ✅ Send me the distilled version: your conclusion, your doubts, your question.
  • 🙏 Read what you send before sending it.
  • 🙏 Skip the raw, unreviewed copy & paste. I'll just ask you what you think anyway.

Why this matters to me

Effort is the message. A few minutes of your attention tells me the conversation matters to you. When something arrives clearly unread, the communication tends to add nothing for either of us and I'd like our interactions to add something. In my view it will be a dystopian world when people only communicate with each other through AI-generated outputs.

So: read it, trim it, make it yours. I promise to do the same.

This follows the “Human Responsible” model from ai-policy.dev: your tools are your business, but what you submit should be reviewed, understood, and owned by you. Also inspired by meatproxy.me and no-slop.ai.

If you got send to this page by me, I probably think you send me something that's primarily produced by AI (correct me if I was wrong).
